Being too young, his parents would not let him join. So he hid in a wagon of hay until dark and ran away to join the Army. He lied about his age. He was a farmer and served as County Commissioner at which time a new bridge was erected over the Blanchard river on Main St. in Findlay OH. The bridge had his name on it, but has since been replaced by another newer bridge. He was killed on a railroad crossing in Hoytville, Wood Co. OH where he had taken some grain to be ground for feed. He was m. twice to the GEORGE sisters. Had 9 Ch. He and both wives are bu. Union Ceme. McComb, OH. His parents, John and Alice (WALL) RADER are bu. in Thomas Ceme. Hancock Co. who also had 9 Ch. (sent in by 302.168 - Thanks) Vol 1 No. 2 pp. 17 # 14 - Mace RADER m. Burdelle PENDLETON, res. McComb OH. The Rader road on the west side of McComb, goes north to the county line of Hancock Co. and Wood Co. These are the RADERs that I kinow of that lived on the Rader road. I'm not sure if Adam RADER lived on this road, but, he did own a number of farms there at one time. His two sons Winfield and Marion lived on the road. Other RADERs were, John, Richard W., Henry, William H., Henry J., Ellis, McClelland, Terle, S. Marion, Roy, Scott, Chase, Harley. These all had families, all were related in some way and all the above RADERs are decendants of Henry RADER of VA and wife Caterine (Propst/Probst) both of whom died, Hancock Co. OH bu. Thomas Cem. Hancock Co. (sent in by 302.168 - Thanks)

Vol 1 No. 2 pp. 12 (III-3-C-b) Peter died before 13 Nov 1820. See conveyance Elizabeth Rader to Jacob Rader that date from Greene County TN. Deed book 13 pp. 84. The indunture of 24 Oct 1831 names Peter and Elizabeth's children, but is not their Will. Which have as yet not been found. (sent in by 302.157 - Thanks for all the great documentation)

Vol 1 No 1 pp. 5 (1-L)Solomon Rader, son of Wm. & Elizabeth (MURPHY) RADER, is grandson of Peter & Eliz. (FRESHOUR) RADER.(sent in by 302.157 - Thanks)

Vol 1 No. 2 pp. 11 Elizabeth (III-3-A-c) In a list I have, there is no Elizabeth but is a Susanna who married Jacob DUNKLE. I think this may be the same person (sent in by 302.160 - Thanks)

 Next child same section. Johannes bp 6 Mar 1747 is the son of Susanna ZIMMERMAN, not Catherine ERB. Susanna died in 1748. Michael ROEDER m. Catharina ERB c 1751 (New Goshenhoppen Ch. record) Johann's wife is not Martha. I have seen her listed as Maria Catharina and Maria Christina, but never Martha. On her stone at New Goshenhoppen she is Maria Catharina Neukerg REDER. (sent in by 302.160 - Thanks)

Research hints;

 There are many unheralded places to find the facts that many try the usual and pass over the real truths.

 1} "cher chez le femme" many of my great discoveries have been made following the female lines. If you have the wife's maiden name, search for a family history under that name. Often there will be the husband's parents names, place of residence and their children. Especially if the husband is of worth, much will be said about him and his family. Also if any of their descendants became notable it will be noted. DON'T PASS UP THE WIFE

 2} The library system in this country is invaluable. They will go all out to get the material you need to view. Go in and get acquainted with your Inter-library department. You won't be sorry.

Mutterstadt in Vergangenkeit und Gegenwart;

Heinrich Eysellein printed Mannheim 1967 pp. 194 sent in by 302.139 LOOSELY translated. (1 year of highschool German and a tourist dictionary). The first pilgrims and their families arrived for a short time in the town of DORF after they had made up their minds. They were surprised at the lands which they had moved into because it was a desert.(similar to the San Juaquin Valley of California before irrigation) They couldn't within their knowledge cultivate this land. Letters received by the 'town crier'? and dissagreement amoungst themselves about the 'news'. But they also had people who were adventurous and not to advise the move of the people into the new land (but to follow Mr Dieter). 1717 Mr. Dieter (think this is Catherine's brother) sold everything and moved to Pennsylvania. He was followed by Paul HEIM, Wilhelm Heim and wife Judith, Johann Martin Gohrig, Philipp Grostkasten, Christian Wichst, Caspar Schunck, Paul Heipel, Adam Ro(")ders widow, finally Johannes Hoff and his wife Susanna. by 1728 all of the families had emmigrated.

ALLIED FAMILIES

Documentation sent in by 302.157 From History of LEHIGH COUNTY Pennsylvania Vol II page 221

 The name of the family was originally TAUBER, signifying a dealer in doves. The name is still retained by a tributary of the main in Germany, whence the ancestors of the American stock emigrated. A peculiarity of some dialects in Germany, as well as of the Pennsylvania German venacular, is the change of the initial "t" to "d" and the addition of the letter "t" to the suffix "er". Examples of the former change are the transition from Truckenmiller to Druckenmiller, Tiefenwifer to Diefenderfer, Taubler to Deibler; the latter transition will be noticed in the change of Boger to Bogert, Herber to Herbert, Schiffer to Schiffert. Both of these changes appear in this family name. The first transition was made to Taubert, subsequently changed to Teubert. Thus these various forms appear in the names of Catharine TAUBER (Mrs. John Adam ROEDER) who came to America in 1724; Rev. R. TAUBER, Hosmer, S. Dak.; Wilhelm TAUBERT (1811-1891), a prominent Musician in Berlin, and composer of "Kinderlieder;" Emil TAUBERT (1844-1895), teacher in Frederick Wilhelm's Gymnasium, dramatist and poet; Michael TEUBERT, later Michael DEIBER, the first of the family in Lowhill: Michael DEIBER, the first to settle in Berks Co.; Rev. S DUEBER, Mankato, Minn: Rev. G. DEIBER, Elma IA. The first member of this family known to have emigrated to America was Michael DEIVER (Deiber) "b" being changed to "v", a peculiarity occurring in Evert, Gruver and many other names. He was the ancestor of the DEIVERTS in Schuylkill Co. He settled in Richmound twp., Berks Co., near Michael's church between the years 1714 and 1720. He emigrated from Wurtemberg, and brought with him three sons, Michael, Christopher, and Wilhelm, the oldest being three years of age. Christopher settled in Virginia, In 1744 Michael m. Miss RENSCHLER, and Wilhelm, m. Elizabeth WAVER, obtained a tract of 300 acres in North Manheim twp. Schuylkill Co. PA, along the road leading from Schuylkill Haven to Landingville. Their descendants located principally at Pottsville, Schuylkill Haven and Orwigsburg, and constitute a numerous and notable branch of the DEIVERT family. It was about the middle of the eighteenth century that Michael DEIBER and Jacob Deiber (Teubert in the record) obtained from Johann Ulrich a tract of 400 acres in North Whitehall in what is known as Deibert's Valley.  (more of the history of this family can be obtained by locating a copy of the book listed above)
